Now that the puppies are gone, except for Piper, we can return to the "old" way of sleeping. No more couches and reclining chairs for the humans. Last night all the dogs were in the human's bedroom. Bishop returned to his favorite chair. Simon and Ripley laid on the bed between Margie and Jerry, as usual. Martha stretched out on the cool hardwood floor, never to return to a crate at night. Piper was in the big girl crate.
Hope and Paige looked on from Heaven...all was right with the world.

Today marks a significant day in the history of Canterbury Tails... On June 30, 1988, the first litter of Canterbury Tails was born! Elsa had her litter 20 years ago today. I was 12, Nick was 8... I remember how Mom and I tended to the new babies, while Nick was passed out, sick on the floor in the family room, and Dad was in Pennsylvania getting ready for us to move.
The little babies were only 2 weeks old when we moved to Pennsylvania. I just vaguely remember that 17 hour drive from Illinois to Pennsylvania. In a van we had Brandy, Elsa and her litter...Mom, Nick and me. Elsa was car sick and dehydrated and didn't want to feed the babies so we had to stop every so often and try to feed the babies.
I think perhaps one of my favorite puppy memories of all times was the time Nora escaped from the whelping box. Little Nora was so cute with her cream hair, and black little nose...she always looked so innocent, but was usually up to trouble. One day, she escaped from the whelping box and got hold of my yarn, and ran through the entire house with it, and we came home and it was like a doggy amusement park. And there was sweet Nora, just sitting there so cute, like she did nothing wrong.
It's amazing how poodles have changed my life...they aren't just dogs, they are family. The past 20 years, have been great! Every litter has been so different and magical. We have met so many wonderful people over the years who have become part of the Canterbury Tails family.
Happy Anniversary Canterbury Tails!!!
